Position Overview
The Tool Room Attendant plays a key support role within the Heavy Duty Mechanic Service Department. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient tool room while supporting overall shop operations through basic tool maintenance and facility upkeep.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and takes pride in creating an environment that allows technicians to work safely, efficiently, and without interruption.

Salary: $50,000 – $52,500 per year

Key Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and inventory accuracy within the tool room
Manage tool check-in and check-out processes and ensure tools are returned in proper condition
Perform basic tool repairs, calibration checks, and general upkeep of shop tools and equipment
Operate and maintain the shop parts washer, including fluid checks and scheduled replacements
Conduct general facility maintenance tasks such as sweeping, waste disposal, fluid stocking, and shop supply replenishment
Identify damaged, missing, or worn tools and communicate repair or replacement needs
Prepare tool kits, specialty tools, and equipment to support technicians as required
Assist with maintaining safety standards and compliance with shop procedures
Work collaboratively with the Shop Foreman and Service Manager to improve tool room efficiency and workflow
Schedule
Daytime hours available:
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Qualifications
Previous experience in a service shop, tool room, or mechanical environment is an asset
Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor repairs
Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with heavy-duty tools and shop equipment preferred
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as required
Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workspace
Work Environment
This role operates within a heavy-duty mechanical service shop and requires adherence to safety protocols, PPE requirements, and established shop procedures.
