Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic
Position Overview
We are seeking an entry-level Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Calgary Service team. This role is ideal for someone starting their career in the heavy-duty trade, including candidates enrolled in or eligible for the Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP).
You will work alongside experienced Journeypersons and Shop Foremen in a structured, supportive environment focused on learning, safety, and long-term development in the trade.

Key Responsibilities
Assist Journeypersons with repairs and maintenance on heavy duty trucks and equipment
Perform basic maintenance tasks such as inspections, fluid checks, lubrication, and component replacement
Learn and follow proper repair procedures and safety standards
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Support parts coordination by identifying required components and tools
Accurately track time and document work completed
Participate in training and learning opportunities to progress through apprenticeship levels
Qualifications
Entry-level Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician or RAP student
Interest in pursuing a long-term career in the heavy-duty mechanic trade
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license is an asset
Ability to perform physical tasks and lift up to 50 lbs
Work Environment
This position is based in a heavy-duty mechanical service shop and requires adherence to safety procedures, PPE requirements, and established shop standards.
