Position Overview
We are seeking a 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Cranbrook Service team. This role is ideal for an apprentice who has built a strong foundation in the trade and is ready to take on increased responsibility while continuing to progress toward Journeyman certification.
You will work alongside experienced Journeypersons and Shop Foremen in a professional, well-organized service environment that values safety, accountability, and continuous development.

We support ongoing development through hands-on learning, OEM and online training, and exposure to a wide range of heavy-duty repairs. Senior apprentices continue to build diagnostic capability and technical independence in preparation for Journeyman status.

We offer competitive hourly wages based on apprenticeship level and experience, with clear opportunities for progression.
Hourly Rate: $37.96 – $42.71
Wages are set based on apprenticeship year, with additional increases available through completion of online training, certifications, and skill development.

Key Responsibilities
Perform repairs and maintenance on heavy duty trucks and equipment under the guidance of Journeypersons and Foremen
Assist with and perform diagnostics on engines, drivetrains, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems
Follow repair procedures, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications
Coordinate with Parts to ensure required components are available
Accurately document work completed and track time
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Participate in training and skill development opportunities
Qualifications
Registered 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician
Previous experience in a heavy-duty service environment
Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Valid Class 5 driver’s license required
Ability to perform physical tasks and lift up to 50 lbs
Work Environment
This position operates within a heavy-duty mechanical service shop and requires adherence to safety protocols, PPE requirements, and established shop procedures.
